Dedicated to the Developmental

My First Horizon Group Home, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to provide quality residential placement,  and advocate safety, dignity, independence and civil rights for individuals with developmental disabilities invites our special gifted population to enjoy an afternoon of community integration at the

 3rd “First Horizon Community Fun Day”, a first in its class in Florida.
My First Horizon in conjunction with PR Fiestas Patronales & Business Expo provides an opportunity for our special population to integrate with the community in an all together fun day. They are invites free of admission to enjoy free: Carnival rides, ride the world's biggest inflatable slide; visit various booths that will give out candy and souvenirs for them to take home. We are planning an afternoon full of games, competitions, performers on stage, dance lessons, opportunities to win prizes and also a fashion show where we will have the opportunity to see some of our DD children participate (Parents, guardians and care takers will only pay less than ½ the price $2.50 admission)

At this event our community will have the opportunity to learn about this special population, about their needs; to become aware that they are not different from any of us and that they belong in the community.  This is a big challenge since many do not accept them and they refuse to share with them what our tax dollars has developed for our community at large to enjoy. They have the same right to enjoy and share these facilities and events as any other human being in this community. It will also be an educational afternoon for gifted groups, their parents and care takers to learn about the different services, programs and events available in the community.

My First Horizon and PR Fiestas extends an invitation free of charge, to all not-for-profit companies, organizations and others serving this special community, to exhibit their products and services during this day. Among others, we are expecting to have representatives from Social Security and Medicare to answer questions. PR Fiestas have set up special prices for private and for profit companies serving this community so that they can provide information, expecting to have experts in the fields of Speech, Occupational, Physical, and Behavioral therapy, to answer questions on therapy needs, and provide information regarding different disabilities services and on how to help with their needs.

All this will take place at Pines Recreational Center, 7400 Pines Blvd. Pembroke Pines, Fl 33024, November 17, 2007 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM during the celebration of the 7th Annual PR Fiestas Patronales & Business Expo, the biggest Hispanic Cultural festival in Broward County.
