If you would like to share your own experiences while attending the PR Fiestas Patronales, please send a note to info@prfiestas.com.

Mr. Nieves: I am also a New York( Brooklyn) born Puerto Rican.  My parents are from Ponce (MOM) and Peñuelas(DAD).  I had the privilege of living on the Island in Ponce for over 17 yrs.  I am currently a resident of Tallahassee, Florida and work in Quincy, Florida.  I write to say, I am very proud of the work you do for the Hispanic community and especially for our "gente".  As a corrections professional that has work in PR and three different states,  I see the population of Hispanic inmates and wonder what is happening.  When I hear and see what you do, it gives my a sense of hope for our people.  Once again, Thank you for what you do.

Buenas, mis felicitaciones por un evento tan bien organizado y tan familiar, yo no soy puertorican, I am cuban, but I've been in Pto Rico couple times and I have good friends in Caguas and in Vega Alta, I am glad I went to this event, it was impressive the love that I saw there between the people towards their little island, somehow, I feel like at home, in despite that I cannot come back to mine

I am looking forward to future activities, keep on the good work

Hola Frank,

By the way, the Fiestas Patronales turned out great. I have not seen so many people at one event.

You have outdone yourselves with the promotion, really good job.

I liked that corner of the tent location, please reserve for next year.

Thanks,

Take care,

Elizabeth, 2007

Just a little note to tell you that "I can't wait for the next one". It's my first year in Florida and my first Fiesta Patronales event and I loved it!!. It reminded me so much of "home", especially when they started playing and singing the "décimas". Thanks so much for bringing Puerto Rico to us here in Florida!

I'm a Puerto Rican of pura cepa. I'm originally from Villalba, Puerto Rico. I have been living here in South Florida for eighteen years. I have been to Calle 8 in Miami and many other places but none had the effect on me like the Fiestas Patronales. It really was like being in Puerto Rico again. This was my first time to go to the event. The vendors were excellent. I was looking for pictures and posters of Puerto Rico and I found them there. I bought many souvenirs and music. The food was a dream. The place seemed large enough to accommodate everyone that Sunday.

Ah, and the music! I was there at 12:00 AM; the show started at around 2 to 3 o'clock. I didn't move from there. I danced and moved my body so much I was hurting the next day. But it was all worth it. I enjoyed it so much, specially the Trapiche group and Harold Hernández. These trobadores put all the icing in the cake that beautiful Sunday. It had been years since I had heard the plenas and décimas from Puerto Rico and nothing had brought me back to my town in Villalba like Plena Libre did. These two groups were the greatest.

I left Puerto Rico, the Island that I love, when I was 15. Now I'm 41 and I still feel the breeze of my beautiful Island. Thank you for making my day Feb. 13 the most memorable of all my life. Keep up the good work and I will be going back next year.

With love, de esta orgullosa puertoriqueña,

As a visitor from New Jersey (Italian-American, no less) you went out of your way to make me feel welcome. It was so nice to see you each day, to say hello and good-bye. When I said it wouldn't seem the same not to be able to say "see you tomorrow" after the final day of the Fiestas you said that we would just say "good-bye until next time".

I had a great time and can't wait until the next Fiestas Patronales. It will be my 4th one. When is the next one, by the way? If you wouldn't mind keeping in touch every once and awhile, would you please keep me informed? Thanks again for being so nice.

I am so proud of you. I am a Puerto Rican brought up in Australia, so it was so awesome to share our pride, our music and our flag outside of PR. You did a marvelous job indeed and you have my support in whatever you organize.

Lots of love,

- Shirley

Felicitaciones de verdad, la verdad que lo disfrutamos en familia, le comentaba a mis amistades que me sentía en cierto modo en mi islita.

On behalf of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, we'd like to say THANK YOU for the privilege of being a guest and part of this historical evening on the first ever Hispanic themed entry in the Winterfest Boat Parade. The great salsa band, delicious dinner by Pollo Tropical and "EL SABOR LATINO" on the yacht was enjoyed by all and truly an unforgettable experience. CONGRATULATIONS! to Fiestas Patronales for bringing together the Hispanic community, and making us all shine.

Feliz Navidad y Próspero Año Nuevo para todos.
