First Horizon Community and Fun Day November 15, 2008 1:00PM to 6:00 PM My First Horizon Group
Home, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to provide quality
residential placement, advocate
safety, dignity, independence and civil rights for individuals with
developmental disabilities, invites our special gifted population to
enjoy an afternoon of community integration at the 3rd “First Horizon
Community Fun Day”, the first of its class in Florida, My First Horizon in
conjunction with PR Fiestas Patronales & Business Expo work together to
provide an opportunity for our special population to integrate with the
community in a all together fun day. They are invited free of admission,
to enjoy free carnival rides, to ride free the world biggest inflatable
slide and to visit the various booth that will give out candies and other
souvenirs for them to take home. We will have basketball hoops
competitions, performers on stage, dance classes, opportunity to win
prizes, as well as a fashion show where we will have the opportunity to
see some of our DD children participating. Parents, Guardians and care
takers will only pay $2.50 admission. At this event our community
will have the opportunity to learn about this special population, their
needs, that they are no different from the rest of us and that they belong
in the community. This is a big
challenge since they are not accepted by many that
refuse to share with them what our tax dollars has developed for
our community to enjoy. This special population has the same right to
enjoy and share these facilities and events same as any other human being
in this community. It will be an educational
afternoon for gifted group, their parents and care takers to learn about
the different services, programs and events available in the community. My
First Horizon and PR Fiestas invites free of charge, all not for profit
companies, organizations and others serving this special group to exhibit
their products and services during this day. Among other, we will have the
presence of the Social Security and Medicare to answer question. We are expecting to have
experts to answer questions regarding Speech, Occupational, Physical, and
Behavioral therapy needs, information regarding different disabilities and
helpful hints on how to assist their needs. All this will take place at Pines Recreational Center, 7400 Pines Blvd. Pembroke Pines, Fl 33024, during the celebration of the 7th Annual PR Fiestas Patronales & Business Expo, the biggest Hispanic Cultural festival in Broward County.
